Homecrest Assisted Living was founded in 2007 by Cheryl A. Sawyers and her husband, Michael C. Sawyers, two people that shared a vision of creating a compassionate assisted living small group home that would treat people with respect, dignity, and first-rate care.
Our caregivers are experienced, well-trained, and committed to ensuring a high-quality of life for all of our cherished residents. All of our staff must pass a rigorous background check before joining the Homecrest care team.
Cheryl A. Sawyers, MSN, DNP
Director
Cheryl is a Nurse Practitioner and has been a Registered Nurse for over twenty seven years.
She is a graduate of Howard University, Washington, DC with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing degree from Bowie State University, Maryland and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Marymount University.
Cheryl exhibits a true commitment to caring for others. Cheryl began specializing in elder care in 1985 and has been very passionate about providing excellent care ever since. "I love being able to care for people outside of the confines of a hospital. I love helping people in a home environment. I believe it supports vitality and allows our residents to live with dignity and comfort."
Cheryl is a proud member of Sigma Theta Tau, Honor Society of Nursing and the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland. She is a Board certified Nurse Practitioner who is active in the community and has received honors for her work with rehabilitating seniors with cardiovascular conditions.
Cheryl enjoys reading and traveling in her spare time.
Michael C. Sawyers
Assistant Director
Michael Sawyers is a retired US Army medical Chief Information Officer (CIO). He his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee in Engineering Science and Mechanics with a concentration in Biomedical Engineering in 1979. He earned a Masters of Science degree in information Systems from George Mason University, Fairfax, VA in 1992.
From 1999 to 2006, he worked in the private sector as a Program Manager for a federal systems integrator. He then started, 7Delta, his own information technology company, which he sold in 2014. He co-founded Homecrest Assisted Living with his wife Cheryl in 2007 because he saw a need to provide elder care with dignity and compassion to people living outside of institutionalized care. Michael is passionate about helping others.
In his spare time, Michael enjoys movies, travelling and spending time with his friends and family.
